My imagination was sparked by the shape displayed in Per Mollerup’s book - Collapsibles. The idea that a plastic structure could replace large volumes of foam was the basis behind my idea.
Currently available products seemed to be unable to provide both comfort and collapsibility.
As a starting point for my research I went to speak to various osteopaths to gain some expert knowledge on how the neck should be properly supported.
Many interesting points were raised but there were three that really stood out.
With a concept in mind I began prototyping - trying to prove the fact that large volumes of padding weren’t necessary to achieve comfort and support.
I then tested and refined my idea before detailing it for manufacturing and branding the concept.
